Terms of Service
FORM OYR-TOS§01Who We Are and What This Is
OwnYourReport ("we," "us") is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME]. OwnYourReport is do-it-yourself educational software that helps you prepare correspondence — such as credit dispute letters, debt validation letters, goodwill letters, and settlement offers — that you yourself review, sign, and mail.
We are not a credit repair organization as defined by the Credit Repair Organizations Act (15 U.S.C. §1679 et seq.), a credit services organization, a law firm, or a financial advisor. We do not perform any services on your behalf: we never contact credit bureaus, furnishers, or debt collectors for you, never access or pull your credit reports, and never represent you in any matter.
§02Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to use the service. By purchasing, you confirm both.
§03Your License and Access
- Your one-time purchase grants a personal, non-transferable license to use the software for 90 days from purchase, including generation of up to 30 letters.
- Access is delivered by email sign-in link to the address used at checkout. You are responsible for maintaining access to that email address.
- The license is for your own personal credit matters. Reselling access, sharing accounts, or using the software to prepare letters for third parties as a service is prohibited.
§04Payments
The price is a one-time payment displayed at checkout, processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
§05Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy: 7 days from purchase, no questions asked, provided you have generated fewer than 3 letters.
§06Your Responsibilities
- Truthfulness. You agree to provide accurate information and to dispute only information you genuinely believe is inaccurate, incomplete, unverifiable, outdated, or unauthorized. Knowingly submitting false disputes to a credit bureau may violate federal law. The software will decline to generate certain letters where stated conditions are not met (for example, an identity-theft block without an FTC report).
- Review before sending. Every letter is a draft for your review. You are the author and sender of anything you mail.
- Deadlines and outcomes. Tracking responses and deadlines with the tools provided remains your responsibility.
§07No Legal Advice; No Guaranteed Outcomes
Content generated by the software, including references to statutes such as the FCRA and FDCPA, is general educational information, not legal advice, and does not create any attorney-client relationship. Outcomes depend on your individual circumstances and on third parties (credit bureaus, furnishers, collectors) we do not control. We make no promises about deletions, score changes, or any specific result. If you need legal advice, consult a licensed attorney in your state.
§08Prohibited Uses
- Submitting disputes you know to be false, or using the software to commit fraud;
- Attempting to extract, reverse-engineer, or resell the letter templates or software;
- Using the service to provide credit repair services to others;
- Interfering with the operation or security of the service.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations, with refund handling per the Refund Policy.
§09Intellectual Property
The software, letter structures, instructional content, and branding are owned by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME]. Letters you generate with your own information are yours to use for your personal matters.
§10Disclaimer of Warranties; Limitation of Liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and our total liability arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for the acts or omissions of credit bureaus, furnishers, collectors, or postal services.
§11Termination
Access ends automatically at the end of your 90-day period. You may stop using the service at any time; we may terminate access for material breach of these Terms.
§12Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY, STATE], unless applicable law provides otherwise.
§13Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
